Waiting...waiting... in silent wonder -
the grass is damp beneath my feet,
no sound disturbs the air so sweet.
The fog, sneaking away, reveals
the shapes of trees, distant hills.
Waiting...waiting... in growing wonder -
first one bird, then another
sings Wake up!' and 'coming, Mother!'.
The butterflies start flutter-swooping,
as bees begin their lazy looping.
Waiting...waiting... in breathless wonder -
fingers of crackling golden light
stretch across the indigo night.
The world is awakening, reborn,
the velvet curtain of night is torn.
Waiting...waiting... in mortal wonder -
lights wink on, and engines start,
'good morning' kisses warm the heart.
Alone, I watch this wonder unfurl,
the Sun climbing over the Wall of the World.
